Caktus
The group with the somewhat unusual lineup (2 saxophones, 2 basses + drums) was formed in Aarhus in 2017, and since then has played more than 70 concerts around the Nordic countries and, among other things, had its music performed by the DR Big Band. In 2023, Caktus released its second album 'Flimrende', which was called 'a masterpiece' by reviewers, among other things. Their debut release 'Under the Sun' also received much praise, including a Steppeulv nomination for 'Composer of the Year', a nomination for 'Album of the Year' at the Danish Music Awards Jazz 2021, and a place on both Passive/Aggressive’s and Dagbladet Information’s year-end lists of the 20 best Danish releases in 2020. Over the past year, Caktus has collaborated with the Oslo Jazz Composers Orchestra and performed concerts in an expanded 15-member lineup, which will be released as an album in 2027. Additionally, a new quintet album is coming in April 2026!
